It's time to step up again and do our part
Following the news of four cases of community transmission of COVID-19 last night, the Auckland region returned to lockdown at midday today. As we seek to do our part in minimising the risk of the virus spreading in our communities, the Seventh-day Adventist Church leadership in North New Zealand has announced that all church buildings in Auckland will be closed until further notice. So we will return to meeting online.
Many people are feeling anxious and disheartened by this turn of events. Now is the time for the church to rise to the occasion once again and further God's mission by reflecting his love and care. Take the time to check in on your families, neighbours, and church members. Uplift those infected by COVID-19 here and around the world, and all the essential workers who are doing everything they can to keep things going.
As our prime minister Jacinda Ardern has reminded us, 'We know what to do because we have successfully done this before... we will get through this'.
The Bible assures us that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). So let's not be filled with fear, but with that perfect love for each other, our neighbours, and our community.
